May Favorites

Roses, mascara, powder (gasp), and bronzer - all components of this months favorites. Although a few cheeky purchases were made earlier last month, my sensible side tried to narrow things down to a sure, kick-butt round up of the tried, tested and true.

Littered around my skincare routine posts (here and here), many glimpses of the Clarins Exfoliating Brightening Toner and Rose Water were caught. The decongesting, Caroline Hiron's approved, Clarins part has been saving my skin and turned it into glow central. The rose water allows me to feel a bit more 'Isabelle Bellis' (see video here), as it has been my makeshift, clean water of choice for cleaning the face of your's truly.

I haven't touched the eyelash curlers and have been reaching for powder...what?!? I know. I'm just about as shocked as you are. The Lancome Hypnose Mascara was found in the depths of my drawers and needed a little bit of love. For non-waterproof mascara days, I'll reach for this, and. oh boy, is it easy to get off with the Bioderma. With warming temperatures, my face has been getting a bit more schewty then usual, so I grabbed onto my teenage love - Bare Minerals Mineral Veil. It may still contain the stereotypes of the matte, new-to-makeup face, but it works quite well lightly dusted over the t-zone to keep my face in check all day.

Things got a little crazy up in the Parisian To Be household when I went a bit wild with the tweezers. Nevertheless, the Anastasia Tinted Brow Gel in Granite was an ├╝ber simple solution to the problem. With the bushy brows I've already got, I didn't like the extra hair look this gave me when brows were in check, but when I needed an extra few strands here and there, a swipe hither and tither did the trick. Not to mention, there was no need to fap around with a brush...score!

It's obvious I reach for the Buffing Brush on the regular, but I found a new use for the Real Techniques Contour Brush. Originally, it was my powder highlighter brush of choice, but I've rekindled it for concealer. The perfect size to blend, but not spread into oblivion, it's earned a prime spot in my stash. Along with contour, I've taken my hand off the Kevin Aucoin Sculpting Powder and switched things up for a bronzy mix - NARS Laguna Bronzer. Super "I've got a holiday glow" but not orangy. A glint of shimmer, but no glitter ball. It balances in all the right places making it a cheek color/contour, multi-tasking hero. Need I say more?

May was the month of flower dispersed photos (just see previous posts) and exams...ughhh. Luckily, the puffy-eyed savoir of an eye cream sorted les yeux and got them ready for hours of history readings... The Lierac Diopti Calm Anti-Fatigue Eye Balm and Mask puts forth a dose of moisture and de-puffing that gives the eyes that "ahhh" feeling.

I'm always sucked in by the blogger hype (NARS Laguna, prime example), so when I spotted a mini size of the much-raved about L'occitaine Almond Oil Shower Oil, I knew it was meant to be. Although I can't say it's particularly mind blowing in the shaving department, it is amazing in the bath! Slightly foamy, yet moisturizing, let's home your dog doesn't gobble you up by confusing you with the smell of almond cookies.

So the monthly edit of all things body, bath, makeup, and skincare related. See you in June...

  1. I really want to try the clarins exfoliator. I've been reading a lot of Caroline Hirons lately, and she's got me inspired:D

    1. Yup, the almond products are glorious! I've heard recently that the shower oil heats up upon application to the skin. I'll have to investigate that one! Talk to you soon!

  3. The Clarins toner sounds just like my cup of tea. Do you think it's a product you can use on skin that's a bit sensitive?

    1. Haha! Laguna is great! In all honesty, it's the only bronzer I've tried, so now I'm really tempted to try others, especially the Clarins one. I'm glad you liked it!

  5. I should really try using the RT Contour Brush for concealer!
It just kind of sits in my collection because I don't highlight or contour daily.

    1. I was kind of skeptical of it, too. Yet, it works divinely for concealer.
