January Favorites!

My white holiday lights may still be hanging up in my room and adding a touch of cozy flair, but with January nearly gone and past, there's no better time to gear up for a few (quite petite, actually) big ol' favorites coming your way. P.S. a bit of unnecessary info, but I was thiiis close to typing "favoUrite" in that little title box...a bit too much UK blog perusing...

Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer
Yup! A new base favorite landed at moi casa (bilingual, eh?) My everyday base of choice, Miss Mercier has got some big *bleep* wishlists with her name on it in my book. For more info, check out my review here.

NARS Blush in Deep Throat
First up, excuse the (perhaps) prolific language in that title. Thank you so much NARS - you practically turned my beauty blog into porn. Regardless, I haven't touched this blush in ages....perhaps centuries. Luckily, a bit of a clear out and this peachy pink beaute landed a prime place right in my everyday makeup bag. The perfect subtle pink tone that tends to embrace my naturally rosy flush, but in the up-most flattering way.

Now onto the skincare...as for my recent obsession.

Origins Ginzing Refreshing Eye Cream
Although I may have done a bit too much research, I still am technically a skincare noob. Although this eye cream does leave many gaps in the cooling category, it is really great in the mornings as an eye brightener. With tiny reflecting particles, it's like concealer....but in an eye cream.

Origins Super Spot Remover
If you need a spot treatment, then this Origins one has got your back! More often than not, a pesky little red spot pops up on my face. Before I cry myself a river and bring out the old "my stomach hurts" trick (okay, maybe an exaggeration), a bit of hi-impact salicylic acid from this small little tube and "spot be gone!" (my words exactly.)

Origins Dr. Weil Mega-Bright Serum
A bit too many trips to the Origins counter and your monthly favorites will look like this too. If you read my rambly ol' Winter Skincare Routine post, then you'll know that I suffer from chicken pox. Not really, but make them a bit smaller, concentrate them just on my forehead, add a little "post acne" info and you get the jist. A bit too graphic per say, but you get the idea. I finally decided enough with all the concealer and covering and off I went zooming on another Origins trip. Enough with the ramble (perhaps a post if you're really persistent), but about a month with this serum day and night and my "chicken pox" are pretty much all gone. AMEN!

Bumble and bumble Surf Spray
Well, this is the first time that a hair product has graced the ground on a SugartoGlitter favorites post. Rightfully so, because you got another big *bleep* favorite here! You could say that my stick straight hair does leave some desirous, but non moi. Beachy, sexy...no time! I can get halfway there though with this subtle beach babe! A beauty editor favorite, the Bumble and bumble Surf Spray adds a nice *subtle* texture to the hair without making it feel dirty. It leaves a bit to be desired in the fragrance department, but overall, an editor favorite that is now mine too.

Enough with the chit chat! Off I go to do a bit of Valentine's Day chocolate shopping...for myself that is! I wish you all the best for February and (as always) leave your favorite products of the month below!

Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer | Review + Lusts

I think it's pretty safe to say that I am going through a Laura Mercier phase. Every time I pass by one of their counters, I cannot help myself but to take a look - and lust - and add perhaps a bit too many things to my wishlist (I have a page devoted to just Laura Mercier things in my notebook).

Along with my Laura Mercier obsession, I've also been watching a bit too many ViviannaDoesMakeup videos on YouTube recently, and she adores this tinted moisturizer. In my head (oh so full of thoughts), I figured "why not pick up a sample?" Off a went to the Laura Mercier counter...five days later, I purchased.

Enough with the ramble - now on to the actual review. When I first tried this, I wasn't so into it. In fact, I hated it, but "hate" is a strong word. A few days later and a bit of a skincare shakeup and I decided to try it again - it was love with first (well, more like second) application.

With just the right amount of coverage and a luminous, dewy - yet still natural knowing me - finish, I cannot say enough good things about this tinted moisturizer. I purchased the oil free version for my not so oily, but, more often than not, shiny face. I find it keeps shine at bay even without the use of a powder - a win, win, eh?

Overall, I think this is an amazing, amazing choice. If you're a consistent reader of the blog, then you'll know that I swapped out the Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua foundation for this babe. Surprised? Don't be. The tinted moisturizer thing just seems to float my boat a bit more.

I know this picture (below) may look a bit pointless, but my point was to show how well it blends. You can't see it! My point exactly.

Lastly, to round out this whole rambly post - a few Laura Mercier bits I have my eyes on...
Second-Skin Cheek Color in Peach Whisper
Metallic Crème Eye Color in Rose Gold
Lip Glacé

Whew! Well, that was rambly post - but rightfully so for a product this great! If you have any questions, as always, leave them below. Are there any more Laura Mercier products I should try?

Pour Le Moment | Body Bits

Mr. Weather up in the sky has had a hard time making up his mind recently. Last week, it rained nearly everyday, yesterday you would have thought it was spring, and today, it's cold again. That being said, these three body bits have kept my skin hydrating and soft no matter what the weather.

In the shower - the Soap & Glory Clean on Me shower gel. My suggestion - defnitely use this with a loofa. I have never seen something lather like that in my life! The matching scent of the Flake Away Scrub, and I'm all decked out in a scent as chic as Audry Hepburn herself!

For lasting hydration, a generous amount of Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula. It smells like cookies and makes my skin ridiculously soft...to the point where I get comments about it all the time!

There you have it! Body bits I'm using at the moment. What kind of body things are you using?

Beauty Bag | Volume 1

I think I mentioned in one of my previous posts that I started keeping a makeup bag to hold all my everyday essentials in the makeup department. Let me tell you one thing - this speeds up my morning like no other! No more rummaging around in the drawers in the morning. No more coming home to bomb blown drawers.

My makeup bag - this chic Chloé number...from my mom of course! As for the contents, let's just say this is the week of fresh, clean, simple, glowing skin. Hey - sounds good to me!

For base, I've been in love with a sample of the Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer and I'm 90% positive that I may return my newly purchased Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua for this babe. Stocked with my usual MAKEUP FOREVER Full Cover concealer and Shu Uemura eyelash curlers (which I have been it a very dependent relationship with recently). Maybelline Full 'N Soft Mascara finishes off the real necessities of the bunch...soft, full, natural lashes.

Now on to more of the "fun" bits 'n bobs. NARS Deep Throat (am I allowed to say that in a blogpost?!?) on the cheeks....so glad I had a mini shopping the stash session and took a long stare at this beaute. Of course, a bit of Benefit Girl Meets Pearl on the cheekbones, for it wouldn't be a Sugar to Glitter makeup post without mentioning highlighter! I stocked MAC Painterly Paint Pot for days when a want a little bit of "je ne sais pas" on the lids and the delicious (don't worry, I'm not eating it...yet) Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector in Rose Shimmer for the lips.

Well, I'll just be enjoying my pink filled makeup face this week - I promise, not intended or planned.

Peanuts by Moleskin | 2013 Planner

For those of you who don't know me - I am an utter (perhaps obsessive) organization freak. Not to mention my love of planners, journals, etc; I landed my eyes on this and knew it had to be mine.

I love the classic feeling of Moleskins.
...complete with stickers...

You can buy your own Peanuts planner here.

NARS Luster

Most of you probably know that cheek products are my absolute favorite! That being said, NARS Luster sure doesn't disappoint.

Having mostly pink toned skin (I like to refer to it as "English rose"), it is quite hard to find blushers that don't bring out the redness. *Enter Luster* With the perfect balance of apricot, peach, but still giving that natural glow that everyone is going for, all while adding a bit of warmth to the visage.

The texture is that of all NARS blushes - soft, silky, and easy to blend.

All in all, Luster is all I've been reaching for this week! What are some of your favorite "peachy" blushes?

Winter Skincare Routine!

Are you ready for an extremely long post?!? Well, I'll try to keep it as "to the point" as I can - but how "to the point" can you be with a skincare routine? Actually, I take that back - you can, but just not when I'm writing it... Second, I am by no means a skincare expert. This is just what has been working for my skin, it may not work for yours, but I'm a bit nosey, so I like these kinds of things.

A little bit about my skin - I have combination/dry skin. It's also, very very sensitive. On the other hand, it's not necessarily "acne prone", but I did struggle with acne for a month before starting this routine, and, let me tell you, it has helped a ton! Now, all I've got to combat is getting rid of these pesky little scars. That being said, here we go!

To start, I cleanse with the Aveeno Positively Radiant Cleanser. This isn't my favorite cleanser...at all, but it's really gentle and it gets rid of the excess oil that has spread over my face from the night before, all while not drying out the rest of my skin. Not really something I'd recommend, but it does the job.

Next, if my skin is feeling a bit dry or dehydrated, I spray it all over with the Caudalie Grape Water. I'm not going to say anything else about this besides IT'S REALLY GOOD! Then, onto the actual moisturizer. Recently, I've been using the Origins A Perfect World SPF 25 moisturizer. I've been really liking this, for it's really hydrating, but doesn't make my skin oily at all. If I'm feeling especially dry, then I'll use the Yes to Carrots Nourishing Night Cream on places where needed. The last step of the moisturizing stage (phewww), I use the Origins Ginzing Refreshing Eye Cream. It's nice, but I'm not sure how I feel about it yet...

Finally, I'm a bit of a lip fanatic, so I use the LUSH Popcorn Lip Scrub and, as of late, the Aveda Lip Saver. Sometimes, I'll use the Nuxe Reve de Miel lip balm, but it's just so darn expensive and I find this is just as good. It's also matte so it's really good under lip products.

Now this is a bit more extensive. I don't really take off my makeup, for I find it all kind of comes off in the shower, but I may have to get into Bioderma soon...who knows. If I really need some extra help, I'll use Vaseline on a cotton pad for removing my eye makeup and I just leave my face makeup to come off with my cleanser.

To cleanse, I use the Origins Checks and Balances Face Wash (it's AMAZING) with my Clarisonic Mia. Then, I use the Body Shop Tea Tree Toner on a cotton pad just on my forehead  where I tend to break out the most (and am recovering from those pesky scars). Let me tell you something though, this toner has alcohol in it...not the best thing, eh? I'm going to finish it though.

For moisturizing, I use the Caudalie Grape Water (enough said) and the Embryolisse Lait-Creme Concentré just through my t-zone, because I tend to not need as much moisture there. For my cheeks and chin, I use the Yes to Carrots Nourishing Night Cream for some extra moisture. For eye cream, because my eyes have been so dry, I've been using Vaseline (???). Who knows, it works.

For a spot treatment (on any oncoming spots), I use the Origins Super Spot Remover. One thing, THIS IS AMAZING. You just put some of this on at night...and in the morning, spot be gone!

I do the same lip routine...et fini!

Oh, one more thing! Every three days, I've been using the Origins Modern Friction after cleansing in the shower and once a week I've been using the Origins Clear Improvements mask. Can you tell I'm on an Origins kick? I just started using these (and the mask is even a sample), but I will definitely keep you updated!

Pheww! That was a long one. I will definitely keep you posted on some of my new skincare additions. Also, tomorrow I will be posting a post on the Clarisonic - "my thoughts and opinions" type thing. I hope you enjoyed this and let me know if you'd like more skincare related posts!

The Little Tray

After a recent browse in Anthropology, a gift voucher and my new "vanity", and I somehow came home with this little guy - but isn't she a beute?!?

This lives on my vanity to hold some very important things - and of course of few "pretties".

At the moment, the Origins "A Perfect World" Moisturizer with SPF 25 and the Ginzing Refreshing Eye Cream. In the perfect spot for performing my morning ritual. Also, a sample of the Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua foundation - one word : ADORE. That being said, I may or may not have ordered the real thang'...it's kind of hard to tell. Last of the more utilitarian things, MAC's Soba eyeshadow, my recent of choice, for sweeping all over the lid. P.S. I'm starting a new thing where a keep a makeup bag each week of the products I'm using - I've got too much to switch back and forth and I want to get through things!

Now, onto the pretty things. A small eiffel tower (are you surprised) and a vintage perfume bottle from my mom. Also, I store here my initial necklace, which I wear most days. It's so dainty, that I'm pretty prone to losing it, so it will stay here for now.

That's it! Things are bound to change a top my new adornment, so let me know if you'd like updates. Avoir!

A "Toe Dip" into MAC Paint Pots | Painterly

Another Christmas gift review. So many people always talk about the MAC Paint Pots, this was at the top of my list. There was Bare Study, seemed a bit too "champagne stark" for my liking, Rubenesque, a little too dramatic, and the list goes on. I finally decided on Painterly, not quite knowing what I was going to get myself into.

I have used this everyday since Christmas...EVERY DAY! I use it under every single eyeshadow. I use it just on it's own. It's gorgeous. It blends into my lids really nicely, and adds a little "je ne sais pas".

As for the texture, it is quite thick, which I like. It doesn't crease on me and it stays all day. I tend to like the texture of the Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadows better, but, like I said, I've used this one everyday since I got it, and I rarely ever use my Benefit one.

It's official - I'm in love with Painterly Paint Pot. What's your favorite Paint Pot?

January Empties!

My last empties post was in November, so I have accumulated quite a few things. Luckily for me, using up products is just as rewarding as getting them. So here I am - January Empties.

Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula
I use this as my everyday moisturizer. I'm pretty sure this is my second bottle of this stuff, and now I'm on my third (and I even bought the big mama!) Thick and delicious (don't worry, I'm not eating the stuff) - not to mention luxurious.

Burt's Bees Almond Milk Hand Creme
I really liked this at first, but I soon realized that although it smelled really good in the pot, once you rubbed it in, it smelled terrible. It's kind of hard to describe, but I don't think I'll be repurchasing this. I did buy the banana one, though, and I think I like it!

LUSH "Honey I Washed the Kids" Soap
I adored this when I first got it, and I still have for a while, but it's gotten to a point where I just can't use it anymore because it's so small.

Rodial Dragons Blood Sculpting Gel
Interesting name....honestly, I didn't notice a difference in plumping or anything it was "supposed" to do. Oh well!

Boscia Black Hydration Gel
This was actually quite nice! Unfortunately, I think my skin is just too dry to get along with just this, but I think this would be perfect for those with more oily skin. One thing - I didn't actually finish the sample because of the...scent.

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Opal
I've heard a lot about the Becca Skin Perfectors, so when I sample landed at my door, I was more than ecstatic. I actually loved this so much, but it is just so expensive! That being said, this was pigmented enough on my - huhumm - pale skin, that I used this as blush. When I finished it, I was in search of an actual blush that was the same color - and then I found NARS Lustre. Enough said.http://test.skimlinks.com

Neutrogena Healthy Skin Face Lotion
I was using this as my day face lotion and it was...nice. Kind of your typical lotion.

Estée Lauder Serums
So far I've used up Idealist and Advanced Night Repair. I don't feel like I can say too much about these because the sample just wasn't big enough. I've heard amazing things about these though (well, actually just Advanced Night Repair).

Benta Berry Face Creme
I got these in my Birchbox and I liked them. They were a really good supplement to my daily moisturizer to put on dry spots on my combination skin.

That's it! I think probably another month and I will have accumulated more empties (not a surprise). Does anyone else get a (weird, weird) satisfaction after using up products? Eh, it's probably just me...

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish | Soft and Gentle

Let's be honest, I rarely ever wear eyeshadow, foundation just isn't that exciting, and I usually get stuck in a rut with all of my lip products. That being said, cheek products are definitely my favorite. Blushes, highlighters...more blushes and highlighters...

I was more than ecstatic when I found this in my Christmas stocking this year. And now, here I am with a review.

The MAC website describes this as a "gilded peach bronze." Sounds right up my alley. I'd say there is a little pink action in there as well. This highlighter seems to be everyones favorite. Oh boy, is she a beaute!

If you are a natural makeup person, you'll loovee this! It is really, truely natural. Meaning, when I first got this, I was (more than likely) prone to go (a tad) over board. It's the kind of thing that doesn't really make a big difference when you put it on, but once you go out (which I seem less than likely to do these days. Oh well!), it catches the light so beautifully!

As for the texture, it isn't too soft or pigmented...but that's kind of what I like. It makes it quite effortless and you don't have to think when you apply it.

On top is a pretty heavy swatch and on bottom, a blended out swatch. Even on the cheeks it doesn't even look as dramatic as it does when blended out. This is just such a versatile product - it goes with any eye, any cheek, any lip, it's gorgeous as an eyeshadow, highlight, brow highlight...

In my opinion,  this is the perfect staple to any collection! What's your opinion on Soft and Gentle? Any other MAC MSF's I should try?

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains | Review

I'm a little late to hop on the bandwagon with these, but here I am with a post on the one - the only -

I have the shades Honey and Charm - probably more of the natural ones in the collection, but you know me, eh? I'd have to say that I love Charm the most. Sometimes, I find that Honey can go a bit too purple on me, but then I see it on other people and it looks stunning.

Honey (top) is perfect for adding a subtle hint of color to your lips. I think it looks amazing on all skin types and lip colors. Actually, now that I think about it, Honey probably looks better on me, but Charm is just a bit more...me. Charm is a really pretty, peachy color. I like to consider this my "perfect nude". The thing about this is that it never makes you look blank or white like a ghost, it just adds a little bit of a peachy tint.

Now, this wouldn't be a Sugar to Glitter blog post without talking about the packaging! I personally really like the packaging. It is super similar to the Clinique Chubby Sticks and the Tarte LipSurgence pencils. I haven't tried the Clinique Chubby Sticks, but I prefer these a million times more to the Tarte pencils.

The consistency of these are amazing! They are really smooth and buttery. I find them to be really hydrating as well! Honestly, I have nothing to complain about in the consistency department. As for lasting power, these shades are quite light, so I'm not sure if I can really vow for this. I do find that Honey seems to last a bit longer than Charm, though.

All around, I adore these things! The pencil idea makes them really easy to apply, I love the consistency, and the colors. If you were thinking about picking these up, just go right now!

Best of 2012!

Whoop whoop! It's 2013! Let's examine the one and only feat that counts for us all - we survived the end of the world! Enough with all this superstitious stuff...

That being said, here I am with a best of 2012 post for you all. I was so excited to do this post, but it wasn't until I actually stated gathering things together that I realized something - I love every. little. bit. of makeup that I have and I use everything pretty much equally.
Before I buy a product, I do tons of research, swatch it about a million times, and then buy it and keep the packaging so I can stare at for about a week before I use it to make sure I don't want to take it back. Now, if that's not insane (and a little - oh, I don't know - CREEPY, then I don't know what is). Regardless, that is why it was so hard for me to do this. Therefore, I don't have many things, but these really are the best of the best!

Caudalie Grape Water
If you are looking for something to add some extra hydration while soothing your skin, this is it! I know a lot of people love the Caudalie Beauty Elixir, but I definitely prefer this one. I usually spray this on my face after toner and before moisturizer, and (for lack of a better description) it makes my skin feel plump (???) and amazing. You can check a bit of a more "science-y" description I did of it here (compared to the Beauty Elixir).

Origins Checks and Balances Frothy Face Wash
If you read my previous post (December Favorites) you will know that this is my new holy grail face wash *apprehends from using caps lock*. The texture is amazing - really frothy, foamy, and creamy - it smells amazing - like mint and chocolate...and now on to the effects. This face wash has cleared up my skin completely. Despite it being quite creamy, it gives my skin a really deep down clean and makes rids of excess oil, all while hydrating the dry areas of my skin.

Real Techniques Stippling Brush
This is an amazing brush for tinted moisturizer, foundation, blending in concealer, cream blush, cream highlighter, you name it! I personally love using in with tinted moisturizer (see below for product). It gives such a natural application and you can barely see it on the skin. It is quick - and for those of you comparing it to the Beauty Blender, this gives the same finish, just without the extra fuss, squeezing, water, and time. I also did a review of this here.

MAC 217 Brush
This is the only eye brush I EVER use. It's perfect for blending, all over the lid, in the crease, as a highlight, etc. Really - I don't use any of my other brushes! This is definitely worth the money and you will get your money out of it!

Jouer Matte Moisture Tint
I use this every. single. %&*# (whoops). day. It is medium coverage, yet never looks cakey, yet keep my skin non-oily all day. It covers up all of the small acne scars on my face and evens out my skin tone perfectly. I honestly have not mentioned this enough, so if you'd like a post all about this - let me know (I'm not quite sure what else I could say besides it's amazing).

Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector
No matter how many more lip products I buy, I always come back to this one. It looks so natural, yet adds the perfect amount of sheen and tint. I used to hate lip gloss - and I know you're probably calling me a hypocrite right now - but I love this. It's never sticky, it smells amazing...I'm going to just say one more word : I'm OBSESSED!

There ya go! My 2012 favorites! Let me know your favorite products below and - last but not least - HAPPY NEW YEAR!
